We started Deja Vu Furniture with six antique armoires and my husband’s rolodex (remember those?). We opened our store in a tiny space in the front of a rug cleaning business with his last paycheck and my modest income as a graphic designer.

That was in 2003. Now, 15 years later, we have a thirty-four thousand square foot warehouse packed with elegant used furniture and one-of-a kind oddities, overseen by Elvis and our two pugs. We couldn’t have come this far without the support and help of our families, friends, employees and of course our wonderful, loyal customers.

Not everyone is so fortunate. Today, I’m hoping you will think about all the families in our area who have to choose between buying groceries and keeping the lights on or the oil bill paid. That means some children go home on Friday afternoon having eaten their last real meal of the week in the school cafeteria. They won’t have another solid meal until school breakfast on Monday morning.

Fortunately, there’s a wonderful nonprofit organization that reaches out to kids and their families. End 68 Hours of Hunger is a nationwide nonprofit, and the local chapter here is run by two incredible and generous young women, Courtney Cashman and Melissa Carolan. With help from volunteers, they collect donations of food and money to buy food. Then they fill bags with enough items to supply each child with three dinners, two lunches and two breakfasts. They deliver the bags to schools in our area to give to children who need them.

Deja Vu is now a drop spot for donations. Please help us help the children in our area stay healthy and happy. They should not have to worry about something as basic as food, and no parent should feel ashamed to reach out for help.

$10.00 Can make a big difference in a child’s life donations of the following food types are needed:
